Almost. It’s pronounced Sel-ee-kah here in the UK, where much of our pronunciation emanates from French. Think the “ee” in “Dijon mustard” - the (half)rule is a French one rather than an English one.

Why do Americans butcher the word “solder” by pronouncing it “sodder”? I’m ok with you dropping the U from colour, and replacing S with Z in recognise, but how can you mispronounce such a straightforward word?

I’m really not sure where to begin on this. Let’s start with the presumably-indisputable facts; this series of Top Gear was shit. Sure, there were some good sections from some of the white presenters, and there were some good sections from some of the non-white presenters.
The video was excellent. It was amazing to see how comfortable the Nissan rep (apologies if that comes across as derogatory - couldn’t think of a better description!) was with the driver.
