She called USC, the 22nd ranked college by US News, “academically so-so”. Given that that has no basis in reality, and no bearing whatsoever on the overall point she’s trying to make, I’d call that disparaging for the sake of disparaging.

So he pulled a Greg Howard?

They were been able to “make that decision” by specifically negotiating it into the CBA, which was agreed upon and entered into by the WNT. Saying they weren’t is a flat out nonsense statement.

On average they may be paid less (median probably tells a different story) because they made the decision to trade a higher ceiling/no floor for a lower ceiling/higher floor.

The $73k salary is not supplementary to the NWSL contracts, nor it is for separate work or on separate incomes. It is strictly WNT pay for WNT work, and the only difference is that the WNT’s CBA locks in a guaranteed salary for anyone who plays a game for them, while the MNT’s pay is strictly match bonus based.

So a MNT player and a WNT player each play one game for the team in a given year. The MNT player makes $5-13k in a match bonus. The WNT player locks in the guaranteed yearly salary and makes $73k, plus the $1k match bonus.

The USWNT has not dominated their sport, they’ve dominated the tournaments in their sport that are restricted only. Comparing success rates when the USMNT compete at the highest level of the sport and the USWNT at a comparatively much lower level should not be relevant at all to the conversation, and the only thing

Any argument around “equal pay” that does not expressly acknowledge the fact that women’s players get a guaranteed salary upon making an appearance, while the men’s is 100% appearance based, is invalid from the start.

I mean it makes sense, if as a draftee you’re trying to elevate your position, who better to coach you than a guy with first-hand experience on what type of BS will fool the types of GM’s who have high first round picks.

Brown would have been my vote in the primary, hands down, as I generally like him and think he stood by far the best chance of winning the general (not that no one else has a chance).

At least Oliver will go for good stretches of just reporting with a straight (well, exasperated, but serious) face before getting to the jokey bits that always drag on too long.

Just giving a hard time of course.

Is it by far your favorite or followed closely by another movie? Make up your mind!!!

Brown can try to spin it all he wants, but bottom line is he quit on his team during a literally must win game, and they missed the playoffs at least partially because of that. He is in the wrong here, full stop.

Sorry but that’s nonsense. If I’m paying top dollar for a steak, I’m expecting to enjoy it, and that means it comes out cooked appropriately. I’m not saying I’d send back a steak ordered medium rare if it comes out medium rare plus, but if it’s medium well? I’m going to (very politely) send it back. Otherwise, I would

Completely agree. Nothing he’s done suggests he’ll be a year-in and year-out MVP candidate, and while I’d bet he’ll be more than worth the money in at least a couple years, $25 million for the 3 WAR years around those can be tough to stomach.  And that’s before the decline phase..

I think it’s more that he can justify it to himself - the AAV for the whole deal is lower than what he may have initially expected, but the total could very well exceed what he would have gotten for a 10 yr - $300m deal plus a final contract or two at 37.

Yeah that take is legitimately baffling.

The best part is that the only real dumpster fire of a franchise in all of this is the Lakers, who added one of the two best players in NBA history to a team that had three (three!!!) consecutive number two picks right before that, and are maybe the most attractive free agent destination in the league...

overdone meat I generally find to be better than underdone in the hands of a so-so chef.
