Alternatively, you could just not buy the games while respecting the intellectual property rights of games generally. A game not being worth the price is common. Piracy in response to that is not an ethical choice because you get something (the experience of playing the game) for nothing, and without the makers’

No, Blizzard of all people knows there’s almost no demand for legacy servers. Look at this project, the people only managed to steal $2000 because that was all that was donated. People flock to these servers because they can play the game for free, not because it’s got old, rusted content.

Game genie didnt ruin the game for millions of players or give unfair advantages over real players (minus playing a small versus game at home).

I 100% support Epic.

Also of note regarding Battlegrounds’ accessibility: it requires a lot more knowledge of military weaponry, and the UI is ugly, unintuitive, and just about as unoptimized as the rest of the game. (I’m still amazed the game’s main menu is just a glorified web browser running on an HTML backend.)

If players feel they are being disrespected or a game is not good for them, they need to stop playing, they do NOT need the government to prevent them from playing.

“We think of it as a similar principle to collectible card games: Sometimes you’ll open a pack and get a brand new holographic card you’ve had your eye on for a while. But other times you’ll end up with a pack of cards you already have.”

I’m somewhat . . . okay with this? Don’t get me wrong, the rise of loot crates is some bullshit and is CLEARLY being used to pad out gametimes. But the whole “games as a service” thing is something I’m generally in favor of. Though I’ll admit my experience with it is limited to Diablo 3 and dipping my toes into GTAO.

What you need to know about Shadow of War’s Controversial Loot Boxes:

They are optional. You can get them if you want.

(TL;DR version)

You may be right, but the simpler fact is.... why do you care?

I have to just shrug at the whole monetization. I won’t be utilizing it, so it’s not a concern.

I don’t know about you, but Microtransactions have been in games for years now and I’ve yet to be milked by them. I’m going to guess that you haven’t either and you probably don’t actually know anyone who has. So where are these non-existent people that are being milked? Or, maybe some people grab one or two things

So basically micro transactions in the game aren’t needed for most of the game BUT could be used for the final level and bonus stuff.

I don’t actually think this will milk money out of much of anyone. As I mentioned in the article, the game straight up gifts you a bunch of those premiere boxes / orcs, to the degree that I started ignoring them. While the internet rages about the principle of a thing, in practice, the system is relatively generous

BUT MY PRINCIPLES THAT ALLOW ME TO IGNORE HOW GAMES HAVEN’T INCREASED IN PRICE FOR THE BETTER PART OF 2 DECADES BUT DON’T ALLOW ME TO ACCEPT MICRO-TRANSACTIONS!

Maybe he means that the Playstation 3 mindset is starting to set in at Sony. After the success of PS2, Sony walked into the PS3 thinking they could do no wrong and didn’t really feel the need to “try”. It took them a couple years to recover from that. With the PS4 family doing so well, there are hints of that mindset

Person uses Nintendo IP for profit (Patreon/Youtube), Nintendo protects their IP, fans complain as if Nintendo is the bad guys here. Rinse/Repeat.

I LIKE WHAT YOU GOT. GOOD JOB.

No matter what you think of Pewdiepie and his actions, this is clear abuse of the takedown system. Campo Santo was more than happy to allow him to let’s play the game for hundreds of thousands of people, and for them to pretend it was a one way street where only Pewdiepie benefited is ridiculous. Campo Santo doesnt
