Salty old guys in sports have always come out to support their era. Baseball SOGPC (Salty Old Guys Per Capita) is a lot higher than in any other sport in the world more so when you bring in the SOGs who never played professional baseball, yet, still do mountains of shit talking and the annoyance level goes over 9000.
