It died the quiet, undignified death that it needed to die in the last episode.  His plan all along was to gain enough trust for the Dean to let him send in the lease papers so that he could fail to do so and turn Greendale into a casino, but Abed's realization that they would never have been a group without Chang and

While I agree that the emotional undertones are and always have been an important part of Community, I actually thought the fake out was all right for no other reason than the new crew trying to fuck with the mega-fans.  That's what I got out of it, at least.
For most of the episode, part of me was recoiling with

This post just makes it even more obvious that I'm really, really stupid.  Coz srsly, I didn't see it coming until she was in the hotel room with Pepper.

Agreed.  You hire a lawyer, she finds out your brother is dead, you refuse the autopsy, everyone moves on with their lives.

Did anyone else just absolutely shit their pants when they cut to LP in his hotel room?

That's the whole point, though.  That's what happens in the real world.  Unless people are accepting plea deals, you just have to live your life in slow motion for a year or two.  I love the commitment to really telling the story of what it's like to have to relive a rape over and over again just to get justice.

With all of the outstanding jokes, I think that my favorite moment was Linda's reaction when DRL came into the burger shop and said that Bob was right, she did have nice boobs.  I can't remember it beat for beat, but I remember there being the rather typical shocked/disgusted look at Bob before she looked down at her

Spike's glee over Gunn having pissed in Angel's chair at the end is a delicious lagniappe to an already really fun joke, and might be one of my favorite moments of the episode.  Of course, I'm a huge Spike fan, so my opinion may be a wee bit biased.

Just a fantastic episode, and I'm over the moon about the callbacks to My Name is Earl, which was ended far too soon.  This show is close enough that I don't terribly mind the absence, and like most people I never actually gave two shit who the real father of Joy's children happened to be.  :P
