They are "helmets" in the most basic sense, but don't be disappointed in their actual ability to protect you knob. No DOT or SNELL standards AFIK.

I make multiple trips to Taiwan/Taipei, Singapore per year. Been to Shanghai for a stint a few years back and more recently a trip to the Philippines to see my girlfriends family.
