It is base, vile horseshit, and to use a man’s death as a distraction from a discussion too many want to see shut down is cowardly and ghoulish in the extreme

Oh yes, I’m sure none of the endless torrents of abuse on Twitter against someone with a dark history of mental issues had absolutely nothing to do with his death. And absolutely not the fact that his career was assasinated by just an unproven allegation. Or the fact that Zoe was encouraging this rabid behavior from

the problem is that it is cancel culture that pushed him to death. he lost everything from just an accusation that is unattached to any evidence.  it is morally bankrupt to ignore due process and ‘innocent until proven guilty.’  I can see why he might kill himself, and it’s cancel culture that pushed it.

I mean, on the one hand I’m totally on board with everything you’re saying. On the other, while ‘cancel culture’ may not have killed Alec Holowka, it was undoubtedly what pushed him towards the decision to take his own life.

You’re not going to be able to shame us all into commiting suicide.

If Trump is responsible for the El Paso Shooter, then Zoe Quinn is responsible for Holowka's suicide. You can't claim that "preexisting mental illness" absolves influencers in one instance but not the other.

Ad I hope. that Zoe Quinn never comes out of the hole her cowardly ass crawled into after setting fire to everything in her wake. Theres no proof whatsoever of her WILD accusations. And she has done NOTHING to comply with any formal police report. Cancel culture IS a thing. And it’s getting absolutely out of control.

I dont know how you sleep at night arnheim. If zoe quinn woulda killed herself and left a note saying it was because of abuse do you think you would say it was her fault? Remember when i said I dont automatically believe all women because that got alot of black boys and men killed because a white girl said they raped t

“Cancel Culture” did not kill Alec Holowka.

Its so disturbing to me that just because his sister said “he was responsible for causing harm” means that all the allegations are totally proven. What is proven is that a man is dead. Also what is proven is that if there wasn’t a public pillory of him he would be alive. It seems like him ending his own life did

Dont even try, kotaku is erasing all the comments that point the blame to the real perpetrators, the metoo bullshit.

Perhaps if victims went to the authorities instead of Twitter as a first port of call, things like this would not happen. If news sites posted unbiased news for all sides of arguments then things like this would not happen either. Sadly things like this are done as a means of boosting follower counts and revenues

I’ve read the reddit post with the devs statement about the situation but I still think they made the wrong choice by publicly cutting ties with Alec so soon after the allegations came out, yes they say there was already history of Alec being unstable but by their own admission they didn’t know about how abusive he

They’re making a Morbius film... they’ve learned nothing.

Just the children?

Well, of course the MMA guy was cagey.

There’s kind of an off tone here. The premise seems to be that maybe people only liked Borderlands because they were immature and young and now they are old and seasoned and won’t? I guess that works if you assume that the player was X age (maybe your age?) when they first started playing but now they have “been to a

This is kind of a bummer to read. Splinter and the (former) Gizmodo wants to be all about consumer rights and protecting workers.

They were being dicks about it when announced. A simple none condescending announcement would of been nice.

I think the amount of effort you’re putting in to silence any legitimate criticism of the Epic Game Store has gotten out of hand, but what are ya gonna do?
