So, in the way described in Fahrenheight 451. instead of scanning all the books to preserve them, we can just assign people the hereditary task of BECOMING the living book. I wonder whether we can include stipends for those positions in the next stimulus bill. Kind of the the way "pensions" used to be, a subsisidized

@Donuthead: I certainly hope you let her out ocassionaly.

Hey, remember when desktop PCs had keylock switches? Now I'm showing my age!

As a shop teacher explained to us 45 years ago, residential locks are just to keep your neighbors honest - unless you have armor plating over every window and door, a determined thief will find her way in regardless of fancy locks.

I would bet money that the first ones to be find try to sue Google. This IS America, I mean, like what do Greeks know about democracy? They probably don;t even know about usnig filibusters to preserve liberty!

@HeroOfTomorrow-the Untied States: Yeah, that was meant to be "first". It appears there is a way to edit comments, but I have not found it - maybe one has to be a more trusted contributor to have that privilege.

@LazyPanda: Yes I actually do use a shallower angle, but I have an object in the freezer that makes the support easier. The full rotation is too much trouble, but I HAVE done one 180 giving a V formation.

SERIOUSLY! Freesing water in a water bottle is a top?!?!? OK, Here's my version. I lean it at a 45 degree angle in the freezer so that when I later fill it with water, there is more surface area in contact with the liquid, Otherwise, since cold does not rise, you have to keep shaking the bottle to make the ware cold.

Dirst let me sat that other than being a bit too heavy and hot to hold for long periods I love my Fujitsu tablet PCs that I bought used on ebay a couple of years ago, But for years we have known that the vast majority of the consumer community use their laptops (full desktops are rarer these days) for email, internet,

@ddhboy: 30% SEEMS rapacious, but I think the publishers get 50% or less of newsstand copies, so maybe electronic versions should be somewhere in between.

I would be willing to make a sizable wager that this "research" was funded by the cell phone (as a distraction from disclosure rules) or foam/air mattress manufacturers.

@Pierce Nichols: Thank you, Pierce! It is this confusion between the scientific and lay use of "theory" that fuels challenges to the teaching of evolution. It is amazing that in the 21st century, after so much of our lives have been changed by the use of the scientific method, so many still have no understanding of

@MachineLove: much like when one makes boxes for jewelry or knick-knacks, one could line with felt or other cloth. Or you could paint liquid rubber inside (like you dip tool handles into).

So people people pay a premium for the "coolness" factor to buy an iPhone, then they pay additional money to hide it?!?!? Well I guess one DOES have to worry about street thugs, but then again one can just wear a Rolex as decoy bait.

@ding-dang: I think I'm going to cut out your comment to keep in my wallet for the next time my daughter wants me to try to explain irony. Perfection!

I see a lot of young people on the bus listening on bud or sharing buds. Isn't contemporary music in stereo any more, i.e. are both channels identical?

@the_podfather: No, unless you are referring to the testing of the Shroud of Turin. More likelyu you are trying to refer to a test named after crypto-analayst (code breaker), mathemetician and gay martyr Alan Turing who proposed it in 1950, a test whether people could discern whether responses were coming form

@FlawedHero: OMG! I would have SUCH mixed emotions as I rushed to a shot police officer to suck the Banana Pudding out of the bullet holes.

@ImSpartacus: Sure, if we could just keep all those pesky people from looking or touching a book, everything would stay so neat & orderly! I think many too many librarians value the books over the people.

"Abul Azad at Los Alamos National Laboratory" !?!? REALLY?!
