Great point.
Great point.
Still waiting on any Gizmodo article about the release of #TwitterFiles - where we learned that the Swamp had asked for censorship of such things as the Hunter Biden laptop story (imagine if it was Don Jr.’s), any report that “Safe and Effective” Covid vaccines had bad side effects and not as effective as advertised,…
So far, fan-run DragonCon hasn’t suffered that fate. ‘20 was virtual and ‘21 was more like 15 years ago attendance at 40K. ‘22 was stronger at 65K - even with the elimination of on-site daily ticket purchases. That’s not quite the 85K of 2019, but many of us still view it as a “found family” family reunion. It will…
Looks like a weaker season than recent, but we are “supposed” to get outside and enjoy the sun. Looking forward to only about 4-5 shows here with three being continuations.
Thank you for teaching me what “blind casting” is. When I think of a “blind casting” I think of the great jobs that the casting directors did some fantastic work finding the right actors to play blind - such as Pacino in Scent of a Woman and Cox in Daredevil.
What about the dozens of people shot during Juneteenth celebrations this weekend? Or the Hunter Biden plea deal where dozens of other crimes from his laptop are getting swept under the rug because of his white privilege?
I highly recommend people who really want to watch the movie - they should just watch it at home. The stage productions at the theatres are often as good as the acting (sorry Sarandon). I’m still a bit surprised that the current PC crowd hasn’t outright protested the over-the-top hilarity of those Transsexual…
My top two would be Tropic Thunder and Hot Fuzz (tosses a coin).
In the anime Moriarty the Patriot, there’s an interesting origin for James Bond - as well as portraying the Professor as some sort of anti-hero.
This is potentially great news.
I’m among the first to quote Frank Herbert’s “Thou shalt not make a machine in the image of a man’s mind”, but we’ve been conditioned that “Thinking machines are good” for years with ever increasing reliance on home assistants, search engines, spellcheckers, and auto-fill text messaging.
Not all Actors are as blunt force honest as Brad Dourif. Years ago, someone at DragonCon asked him “Why you you take on so many roles like Chucky, Pietr deVries, and Doc Cochran?”
Consider this: In Tucker’s childhood, it was almost unheard of for the father to get custody of his kids - regardless of how much he’d fight for them. There must have been some truly horrendous reasons why his Dad got custody of which we aren’t aware.
Modelling has historically been an avenue to coerce pretty young women into prostitution and/or pornography.
Most movies these days are not “Must See”, “FOMO”, or even “Monday morning water cooler” worthy.
I prefer Osamu Tezuka’s 2002 (US) anime version of Metropolis myself. Besides, you can’t go wrong if Steve Blum’s name is attached.
As someone who clearly Not a submariner but who has re-purposed items, I understand the hesitancy some people have using ‘old tech’. That said, some of the most reliable pieces of tech seem to be the simplest.
Regardless of our technological advances, Mother Nature can still be a harsh mistress. I’ll keep the passengers and crew in my prayers.
ER kit - tool kit, jumper cables, rechargeable battery/air pump combo, change of clothes (spare set of my corner marshal bright orange clothes with orange raincoat), fleece blanket, two plastic ponchos.
“not the One. not the One...”
