My truck goes from 15-16mpg to 11-12mpg

Just did a trip with what I guess to be around 1,100 lbs in the bed. So not quite apples to apples. But I maybe saw a small drop with my 5.3L/8spd Silverado. I typically get around 19 mpg on this trip and got around 17.

My F150 (with the V8) gets 18 mpg with regular use and 15 mpg when towing a 7,000 lb camper. That’s about a 17% reduction. I did have an Ecoboost loaner once and it had about a 22% reduction with the same camper.

That’s exactly what I was gonna ask.

I know towing isn’t hauling, but my full size Ford gets around 30% less mileage when towing the camper. Pulling/carrying weight takes more energy whether it’s from dino-juice or batteries.
