I think I’d do pretty decent at B Spec, and definitely LeMons racing, maybe the silly European rallycross races. I have no illusions about my lack of experience outside of virtual racing. I’ll keep it humble, and have some fun.
We prefer the term “necessary evil”. It gets the sentiment closer to the bullseye, and allows them to excuse how they treat us.
IT workers have been getting screwed by contracts like these for longer than I’ve been in IT (26 years next month). Golly it would’ve been nice if someone cared as much about that, at some point...
Come ON, Steve...You know this car wasn’t even available for sale, no less actually showing up in dealerships until basically the end of last month. Hell, they’re only just now starting to show up on posts on Reddit, or other enthusiast sites.
That’s all handy to know, thanks! I haven’t played AC in several years, because I haven’t had the spare budget to throw at a wheel setup. I’ll definitely keep an eye on the progress, as my budget has gotten a lot more free in recent months...
RIGHT?! Seriously good work on the glass.
I love how well they nailed the rain on the windows, but I can’t help but be disappointed, by comparison (especially because the effects on the windows are so good), by the generic puff clouds coming off the back of the cars - especially when those are still there through most of a couple of those tunnels, where the…
I think they’ll probably be riding the high of long time readership falling for the bait and switch on the reposts for a hot minute. Within a month, I’d be surprised if they got anywhere near the clicks. I’m likely not the only one that’s started reading the byline before clicking, so I don’t click on more articles…
Ugh...You increase traffic by creating compelling content, not recycling articles as if they were new. Their staff list is entirely too long to fall into this lazy a fix for dwindling readership.
Why are people on this site republishing old stories, and putting them in the “Latest” section? Steve Lehto hasn’t written for Jalopnik in YEARS. This article is from 2016!
You’re misinterpreting what I wrote. My complaint is that any AWD system is part time. You’re also conflating AWD and 4WD, which I said nothing about.
Really, guys? You’re so hard up for content that you’re refreshing pics from posts nearly SEVEN YEARS OLD, and reposting them to the front page?
How do you drive, that you seriously notice the additional wear on a Highlander? That’s usually just from the extra torque applied, but in a vehicle like that, you’d have to seriously be lead footing it to really add much wear to the tires...
No, no I think you need to go back and actually read my whole comment. I’m quite certain I mean part time AWD systems are garbage, and that all AWD cars should be full time.
Cross shop my Crosstrek with anything else in its segment. I get around 23mpg with mixed driving. Most of the FWD competitors are inching near, if not at 40mpg.
Having just made the move from SoCal back to Detroit before the gas prices went up, and seeing what that cost, I’m guessing most of them would get sticker shock long before they got to the west coast...
They’re going to California? People won’t even notice them making traffic slow - if it’s even possible for traffic to get slower, there...
Part time AWD systems are garbage, and any manufacturer that uses one should be ashamed.
Wait, wait...the community of people who are the sole reason for the invention of convenient on-the-road pee bottles, feel like they can’t pee without pulling over somewhere?
