It can, but like the other commentor said, they aren’t going to protect you completely. With the hit I took, I’d be surprised if my new dual-certified, MIPS helmet would’ve completely saved me from the concussion. That said, still going to make sure all of my helmets a good from now on, anyway...

Oh, with my hit, it definitely helped. One of my wheels got caught on a stick or a rock or something, the deck stopped in place, I went flying foward and the motion sent the deck flying backward - the motion of which whipped me all the harder at the ground, face first.

A helmet helps, but a lot of helmets won’t fully protect you from a concussion. I was cruising on the sidewalk at about 5mph wearing one last November, and got a concussion that I’m still dealing with today...
