The blog post is a bit too long for me to read at work, but I love the overall vibe of “simple sports car need not make compromises for the driving experience”. If they pulled it off, I really wish Nissan well with this one. Their lineup is quite dreary otherwise, and the Z is a neat last hooray for their ICE cars.

I was to say you're playing with fire here, but fire might just as well get outlawed - too modern, might keep people warm.

The Lotus is a great choice. Or you could go with a Noble, maybe even a M600 so you can just tell everyone you bought something with a Volvo engine. That’s like an anti-flashy-drug.

Don't they still make a "Cityliner"? They're well known for their airport busses, too.

Back sweat data breaches coming up.

Even if this was a $1500 var five years ago, it's too nice, practical and cool to pass now. Wouldn't have guessed the mileage.

No one is bottom trawling for oysters? Seems like you are comparing two different aspects of fishing.

1 ton of lithium and 1 ton of steel are very different things to compare though. The amount of both used in vehicles varies wildly.

Fascinating to see Detroit on that list. How can a city so mangled still see such significant transaction value losses?

23 hp and a car made out of compressed cotton. Unsafe at any speed. There are good reasons as to why you don’t see many of them.

Exactly, one of their biggest downsides. If you come from a modern EV like the Ioniq and take a seat in these, it’s a no go right away.

The Ioniq 5 is fantastic and the only reasonable answer here. I like the EV6 much better for its considerably nicer interior and more active chassis, but the Hyundai is a pretty darn perfect fit for OP.

This looks amazing! Unfortunately, smartly shaped vehicles are not en vogue.

Where are all the juicy facts at? Is this really just a subtext for videos on other platforms?

It makes sense, doesn't it? American automakers have been churning out crap-on-wheels for decades and people keep buying it.

Dodge and Chrysler dominating this conversation with force, eh?

Modern EVs don't have range anxiety anymore. That was word of the year in, what, 2011?

The Germans have known for a long time that they can’t compete on quality nor price with Kia/Hyundai. Both Schrempp and Winterkorn have some neat quotes attached to them here. They will leave no void, but can VW manage to exist in the “slightly premium”-space? Not with the downspecced cars they make in the US.

Why?

I get what you're saying, but compare Polestar and Tesla: Volvo's software is shitty, the Polestar and on-brand EVs use way too much power per distance. Tesla leaves them in the dust. So, yes, Volvo needs to do better on software - too.
