Why not a more specific and scientific approach to this idea? Create reference, not just a “bleh, funny, move on”.

1958 Wartburg 311 with s Subaru engine and some Porsche parts thrown in. Distilled blasphemy.

So much wrong. “No semis” is still her language. There’s an obvious limitation in construction height. Odd American measurements are not at fault here, obviously.

Imagine this with a rudimentary Lancia logo:

Never buy a used rental.

Fits perfectly with your avatar, in any case. :D

This is one odd photo - fantastic! Sure it’s not Marty McFly at the helm?

Volvo basically copied essential design traits of the Airflow, very quickly, for its 1936 PV36 “Carioca”. The streamlined design was not a success in Scandinavia either. A very rare classic today:

GM even sold the Nexia in Germany for a while - to much and loud ridicule. Apropos...

True. But before that, Opel was only average crap from every angle. When Lopez came in with his cost-cutting measures, Opel was finally brought to its knees - they’re still not on par with Volkswagen again. And that says a lot.

You are one patient man! I hope you didn’t have to pay for any of this crap yourself? GM really knows how to burn their customers.

It was pretty there for a while - and actually a big step up from the Trabant.

The Opel Omega almost single-handedly destroyed Opel’s value during the Lopez-years. I remember one of the famous AutoBild longterm tests over 100000km - it spend a lot of unscheduled stops at the shop. A POS build of issues, troubles and anger.

The worst thing is: They still make it in Uzbekistan as the Daewoo Nexia:

I strongly disagree. As others have said, this was the rabbit the messy, uncoordinated, underfunded communists managed to pull out of their hats. It wasn’t a good car, but fit for its time. And it did last very long! The latest versions had the Polo engine in 1990:

In that case, they get an awful lot of publicity for being the marginal news outlet they apparently are.

Now that is a strange proposition.

That sounds like an amazing deal for a little roadster like that...cheaper than a Miata.

I can see how it can only go downhill from there. Truly scary.
