The thing i learnt ( at least with android phones) is our on contract is way cheaper then the US on contract as we have another year. With my carrier (telus) you pay a percentage off each month in relation to the phone. If you were to upgrade every 2 years it's very similar to the cost of a phone on a new 2 year…

The problem I see with consoles is, in the case of going digital, you can only buy from MS. It's not like the PC where you can go elsewhere. MS has no incentive to lower the price on games or do amazing deals that steam does because don't see digital as being that big right now
