I owned an SVX for 14 years. Fabulous car. Mechanically, it’s very much like its contemporary Subaru models, save for an engine that has a couple more cylinders and sounds amazing.

That is...horrifying. If I was in that truck cab, the rescuers would find me positively covered in excrement and vomit.
I’m gonna disagree on that one. I didn’t like the 986 when it was new, but it has grown on me.
I remember calling these ‘Audi eye makeup’ at the time. I never liked them.
I bet that’s a glorious ownership experience for the first couple weeks.
You’re not wrong, but value is a complicated thing, and right now I’d trade for some fun.
Buying my F150 crew cab. I mean, it’s served me well and has needed little. It’s just a matter of circumstance. I bought the truck to tow my race car, and six months later the pandemic happened. I never went back to the track and eventually sold the race car. Now I have this big, dumb, lumbering thing that uses way…
It’s honestly not surprising and probably not suggestive of anything. These investigations are legal minefields. Nobody is going to stick their foot in their mouth by admitting or apportioning blame, suggesting a bias for a particular outcome, or sympathy for either party.
Oh yeah. I forgot about that. So when my car first had its HVAC vacuum leak, the engine wouldn’t shut off and I had to use the kill switch under the hood. Right now I have the vacuum line through the firewall plugged. None of the HVAC or locks work, but I don’t have to open the hood to shut it off! :)
Your list absolutely needs to include the W123, particularly the higher-lux models we got in the US. It’s such a great combination of over-engineered and overly complicated, with a deserved reputation for being unkillable.
I think that’s highly unlikely. Either it went to somebody who, cynically, is only interested in the celebrity value or some Trump fan who wanted very expensive memorabilia.
I was a huge Final Gear-era Top Gear fan. That show will always hold a special place in my heart.
Subaru may be behind in active safety, but they’ve positively built a reputation on acing crash tests.
Weber had eight Subarus. With the exception of my SVX and Justy, they’ve all been essentially the same car, made over four decades.
This is a fair question. It doesn’t entirely invalidate CR’s opinion, but it is a good follow-up.
Sure. But at some point, after years of poor performance, the guy in charge has to bear some responsibility. Steiner didn’t personally build the car, but he ran the team that built the car.
I live in NC. It’s still here, and still just as drastic, from what I can tell.
This team represents a country with over 600 million women, and they go and invent a fake one. Wow.
Oh, I can imagine plenty of outcomes. But imagination is not the same as finding out the actual answer.
