I don’t buy the argument that people should be allowed to decide how much risk they want to take. Mandatory helmets reduce everybody’s insurance.

This was almost precisely my reaction to this post. My brain hears ‘chase format’ and just turns off. It refuses to understand the concept. But the ‘caution clock’ is hideous.
I grew up in Elkhart Lake. My family owned a restaurant in town with a Road America-themed bar downstairs (from which I still have some driver-signed memorabilia). I have dash plaques and posters from Can-Am races in the 70s and 80s. I saw Mario Andretti and Paul Newman race there when I was a kid. Every time I drive…
I was interested in your post, so I looked into it very briefly. According To Wikipedia, there were 38 soldiers from the UK killed by enemy action and 9 lost to friendly fire.
I have an ‘05 RX-8. The majority of my modifications are to the brakes, suspension, tires and safety. It’s hard to get much more out of the Renny, being as high-strung as it is already.
I’m no rotary apologist or fanatic. Are they the best use of space under the hood? Eh, that depends on your needs. Rotaries sure as hell have their drawbacks, I’ll be the first to admit.
I really want to know what the new Ridgeline will tow.
I autocrossed a ‘96 Grand Sport several years ago. It was an utter disappointment. Yes, it had huge, r-compound tires and it made a great noise. Yes, it was also gorgeous.
My wife and I lived in Michigan several years ago. She taught in a district that included a domestic truck plant within its boundaries. The teacher’s union even combined benefits with the local UAW chapter.
Have you ever listened to the commentary on that movie? I'm not so sure that it was intended to be satire. Don't get me wrong - I love that movie. It's a crunch-time go to.
90 cubic feet really is huge. I think of my E-wagon as a big car with its supposed ‘1000 liters’ of cargo capacity. But that’s less than half of 90 cubic feet. Jesus.
Good god. I want that.
I’ve posted about this before, probably more than once. I saw a Yugo at an autocross with a 500ci Cadillac V8 in the back. In the front it had a Chrysler turbo 4-cyl. The fender flares in the rear were about a foot wide on each side.
I don’t remember where I read it, but a review of the Saturn Ion has stuck in my brain since that car was launched.
Uh, what? I’ve owned two cars with HIDs. On both, the high beam switches on another set of lights. Halogens, actually.
But that’s a...semi, dude... It’s not a bro truck...
This is kind of amazing. I’ve never heard of somebody pissed off at the Grand Canyon before. Like, you’re offended by it. I love it.
I went to an airshow in Milwaukee once as a kid, at an ANG base. They had all the vendors set up inside a C-5. Brought new meaning to ‘skymall.’
I had one of these once. I got it in 2001. For free.
I say this as an owner of an RX-8: there are no rational arguments for a rotary. I will never try to convince anybody that they’re measurably better at anything than a piston engine. And the reasons for that are pretty obvious. It simply hasn’t had the development that piston engines have. A big reason for that is…
