I would have thought the credited director directed every scene from the episode they're given but that the episodes are shot out of order.

He's about it as far as I can tell. Wonder if he's not going to row back in and become Jon/Dany 2.0 and just wage war on everybody, as implausible as it would be (his only really allies are Davos and that row-boat paddle).

I speculate whether HBO aren't forcing him to stall. Sure he writes slow but anything he writes that could be considered a spoiler for the show from here, especially the ending, would suck the wind out of HBO's massive sails.

I think what happens will stay the same but how it happens it will (hopefully) differ greatly. There are still a slate of POV characters whose fates the show has abandoned, and just because they're not in the show doesn't mean they won't play their part. "Frey Pie" is all Manderly in the books, for instance. Still…

Who are the Baratheon heirs at this point? It's funny that Dany has come all this way and her prime enemies - the actual family who dethroned hers - is basically extinct itself now.
