I have a guy who does this two houses down from me. Who fuckin cares? He’s not parking his cars on my lawn, he works at reasonable hours, and he rarely makes much noise. As long as he does that why should it be any of my business what he does with his garage and driveway?

Yeah, I don’t know why I should feel so prejudiced against this style, but every time I see it I just get completely turned off.

And Godzookie kills me every time

You’re discounting marketing. Just like there have been budget cuts to admissions departments, Chicago community colleges won’t have anywhere near the marketing muscle that the military does when presenting itself as an option to kids. I mean, look how many already choose it without being required to do so after

I mean I don’t want to let anyone completely off the hook here. I think they probably chose to do it the way that they did (rather than the suggestions I saw you make in another reply) in order to keep the viewer as close to what was going on as possible. I just think it’s not quite so simple a question as “why not

Even given that, if you don’t believe that a large number of these kids will try for and probably be accepted into the military because they have no other choice, you’re fucking dreaming.

True enough. I guess my interpretation of the way that scene was shot was to basically account for the fact that Sansa, unlike Cersei earlier, is a minor so they didn’t want to shoot it too directly. I’m not sure if Sophie Turner was 18 at the time, but if not, well...I mean if they really thought, for whatever

I guess I would think that would be an issue for the director to answer for rather than the actress or the showrunners, unless of course they specifically wrote that the camera should focus on Theon (which is certainly possible).

No, they’ve essentially instituted a Chicago-specific draft.

Someone else said that too, but they didn’t bar men altogether did they? It was just a feminist festival with women acts.

A lot of people have gone to Penn State, bud. Maybe even had a kid there.

I mean, that was an explicitly feminist festival, but I don’t remember men being barred at the door.

Sort of surprising in this day and age that something like that doesn’t already exist. Probably it does, somewhere.

I think I was too young when those games out to find that sort of character interesting and now I’m too old. Just missed that sweet spot where I wouldn’t find him insufferable

That’s the thing about badass 12 year olds man. I keep gettin’ older and they stay the same age

Jesus Christ. Last weekend I was parallel parking my new, larger, car for the first time and I was embarassed that it took me more than a minute.

Go figure. I think honestly it was just the experience of having the series turned back to proper fantasy after VII and VIII and having a protagonist who actually liked to speak. Don’t get me wrong, I love Cloud Strife, but Squall’s Cloud-on-Steroids routine kind of soured me on the whole thing.

It’s mean to serve people like me who have nothing but a laptop that’s a couple of years old now. I don’t care how it looks I’m gonna plunk heads on payload til they shut it down.

My understanding was that the learning curve for the actual shooting and basic mechanics was relatively low, but the learning curve for all the meta shit that goes into surviving long enough to win is steep.

I appreciate the effort to not just throw your hands up and say “Welp, you brought it on yourself!” Nobody deserves this shit, no matter who they voted for, and if we want to reach any kind of equality in healthcare we’ve got to get past that first instinct to just shrug and look the other way as they hang themselves
