There is no reason not to own a Wii U. I was told by a bunch of friends that I'd miss out on "hardcore" gaming by choosing the Wii U. Oddly enough, even after almost a decade of being an Xbox guy, I don't miss hardcore games at all. And several of those friends have gotten the Wii U since I got mine.
