You can be a really lovely person and also a loon. There are grifters who don’t even realise they’re grifting in part because they’re grifting themselves. The grand paradox of new age pseudoscience is that for people trying so hard to achieve a higher consciousness, they’re not all that self-aware.
I appreciate your point about “people in power” (i.e. employers) because it is something that often gets lost in this discussion. Given that women hold considerably less power in employment, and are far less likely to be employers themselves...
Right?!
I agree that placing the burden of health care coverage on employers is absurd and outdated. It makes no sense to me why the US does not yet have single payer.
I realise you think we are playing a game of semantics but this is not just semantics. If you work for me, and I give you $50k in salary, a health plan worth $40k, and a sandwich “perk” worth $5 these are all part of a compensation package that you are earning for your labour. As a bacon-lover with strong objections…
Why are you bringing peen into this?
So if your women employees use the wages you pay them to seek third trimester abortions not covered by their employer-sponsored health care, you’re fine with this? That line you are trying to draw between “your” money and their compensation is entirely arbitrary and specious.
Health insurance is tax exempt but otherwise you are right: it’s part of compensation. Wages are taxed but they are just part of the compensation package that you earn by your labour. As with wages, benefits are subject to non-discrimination laws. It is discrimination for an employer to refuse coverage for…
Until/unless the Affordable Care Act is revoked and replaced, the US does indeed have a minimum health insurance laws for both employees and employers, and those who do not meet the requirements pay tax penalties. We can disagree over what should or should not be covered as a minimum but it’s hardly the clear…
Are you thick? Young? New to the job market?
And I am telling you that benefits ARE, legally and literally, classified as non-wage *compensation*. You don’t understand the terminology or the legal ramifications of that terminology.
Honestly the most disturbing thing about this series is reading the trolling in the comments for your reviews. Nothing makes Gilead feel so starkly possible as the grim realisation that there are people watching this who don’t see the real-world parallels and political slippery slopes. :-( :-( :-(
In fact, compensation is exactly what health insurance is. Salary and wage compensation = cash compensation. In-kind benefits such as health insurance or life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plans and the like = non-cash compensation. Literally and legally, health insurance IS compensation.
Could we also say something smack about the cheap rolling office chairs and ordinary conference table in the (quite old and grungy) UN jet because NO.
When considering Trump’s seated posterior, they do
I had the same thought! Great minds
If by “massive balls” you mean “massive hemorrhoids”.
WW dolls were grouped with other DC and Marvel superhero figures at Target last I checked. Their toy section is no longer explicitly gendered but this was in what used to be the “boys” section. They were selling both dolls (rooted hair, removable clothing, fashion doll scaled etc.) and action figures (all plastic), as…
Oh no worries at all. Your post was fine. I think there is a lot to explore there in 45's purported diet without getting into fat shaming. I don’t think diet shaming and fat shaming are necessarily even the same thing...
