Its a very slippery slope when art can be criticized not for its intent, but for what feelings and opinions it elicits from its audience. And this doesn’t just apply to static sculpture, this applies to all forms of art; music, film, etc.

If “I’m offended” is now the standard to have art removed from public, God help

Co-opting? Marginalizing? Hate crime?

Pretty classist/racist to suggest you aren’t allowed to have an opinion or interpret something unless you’re privileged enough to have attended a formal institution, isn’t it?

YOU are the one assuming the pictured woman is the toxic instigator. Maybe she’s the victim. Go fuck yourself for that college class comment, btw.

My wife has two degrees from UC Berkley, including a Women’s Studies minor and thought this article was a huge reach and actually chuckled a few times as I read it aloud to her (confession: I may have dramatized my reading a bit). I guess I should tell her that she has no critical thinking skills now?

IKR!

Thank you. I was sitting here wondering if I was an asshole the entire time I was reading the post.

This is why people hate liberals, and why all the assholes creating real problrms for women minorities poor ppl etc, get to get away with it...because idiots cling to every word and are so fucking sensitive about the stupidest shit. Lets go protest kendall jenner and pepsi...how about the war in ukraine? Or the gay

So I pulled up PT’s rate card. 62.8% of their readership is female. Maybe, just MAYBE since about 2/3rds of their readership is female, they use females on the cover?

there’s also a man head down in a waste bin. so men are all waste to be disposed of?

1. Yes, the photos used in a story are usually less dramatic and smaller than the cover photo. That’s how things work.

I agree with the other currently-pending-folk. Respectfully, I think you’re over-reacting.

Oy vey. Sorry, I can’t get it up for this one.

I think your grasping at straws here

Is this a parody?

This is a definite reach.

“Being naked makes us human” is one of those dumb as fuck things people who think they’re deep and meaningful say.

Queer stopped being synonymous with LGBTQ+ not too long ago, now half the people who declare themselves as “queer” are, by standards of 10 years ago, edgy straight people.

PWR BTTM, which formed in 2013 while members Hopkins and Liv Bruce were students at Bard College, is a queer rock band with both members preferring gender neutral pronouns.

Bother me? I laughed out loud when I read it. It fascinates me to no end when I hear people justify their actions as natural, honorable, and true when in fact it’s simply self-interest.
