@nyCecilia: side note: if you don't need daily customization, Sonos has the weekday/weekend feature, then you can have any mp3 or internet radio wake you up. But Chumby is clearly more flexible. And who doesn't like bean bags???

Comcast decided they wanted to up my cable rate to ridiculous proportions, and won't haggle the price...so I'm planning to up them by leaving. I was sticking with them throughout forever simply because I have ReplayTV, which is more than awesome for many reasons, but I'm tired of getting pinched by Comcast.

@Ashwin Mudigonda: Why not Chumby? It's pretty amazing, and the absolute perfect alarm clock ever created.

@Vensaina: "On the flip side, I went into a bank that I have an account with to get a Credit Card and they just looked at me and said, "Oh, you have [insert funds I have] with us. Alright, you're pre-approved for a $2000 credit card. Here you go."

Anyone into Karaoke? We're pretty much obsessed, and a friend has a Magic Sing microphone, which is cool, and scores you at the end of your song, which leads to many fun competitions...anyway, in our house we have Karaoke via XBMC/Xbox and lots of cd-g, but it doesn't rate your singing like the Magic Sing does. @Zombie Ms. Skittles: If at all possible, stick with a small local bank or credit union. Much more reasonable policies, and you'll be able to walk into a branch and talk to the manager (IF something like this should happen there). Banking is a business, and business should (be able to) be done face to face (JMHO).

@mike_311: I use an older HTC Touch Pro that I bought from ebay this way. My phone is on Sprint with no data plan, I use it for wireless only, and install lots of stuff (including a GPS program that doesn't need subscription!). Mine is Windoze and I don't recommend the older model that I have, but I hear the Android

@Zombie Ms. Skittles: Not sure how much of this is particularly helpful for your situation, but more information is better than less:

@nyCecilia: Following up on my own question, I've discovered that there is a KitchenAid blender (of course no longer made) that handles wide-mouth mason jars. It's not the greatest, but it does the job, and it was a cheap enough buy on ebay. #openthread

Does anyone know if it's possible to convert a wide mouthed mason jar into a standard size?

@HeffeD: Wholly crow! You (and adblock) just solved my rchproxy/script problem when accessing Lifehacker! And I don't even need NoScript, which never really worked anyway. Thank you!!! :)

@nyCecilia: Update: Once I temporarily allow scripts (so I can see comments), the evil dialog boxes return. :(

@amcglamry: My non-citizen husband got one the first year here was here (he came from a communist country)...meanwhile, I moved from NY to CA 10 years ago and the town I now live in won't recognize me as a registered voter, even though I register every year. Go figure.

@TheFu & paintbox: Lovely! Thank you! So far it's working like a charm :)

@nycrite: Love my Touch Pro with no data plan! Screen is too small to surf anyway. GPS works, too.

Whenever I access Lifehacker (or related sites), Firefox tells me I need to authenticate for rchproxy with two dialog boxes. I've tried completely deleting and reinstalling Firefox to no avail. Anyone have any other ideas how to stop the authentication boxes from popping up?
