The salad bar hasn’t went away, and shouldn’t go away, and we knew early on in the pandemic that surface transmission is not a common way COVID is spread, and yet people still did all sorts of stupid “surface transmission” health theater.

That’s not defeatist, that’s the sign that they’re maxed out. McDonald’s shifted years (maybe decades) ago to a similar strategy.
