Oftentimes when I am walking at night and before stepping into a freshly green-lit  crosswalk, I’ll wave my cell phone rapidly back & forth towards an oncoming driver. This seems to help get their attention.

One time I opened their rear door - that got a reaction. I always wonder if I’d ever have the guts to hop up on the hood and walk across it :D
