I haven’t come up with a way to fix his wagon, but I have taken my company’s business away from him. Small step, but in the right direction.
I use OBDLink LX:
Never stop being David, David! I love the deep dives into arcane parts.
1952 GMC dump truck at a friend’s farm. The truck needed to be moved. Friend’s dad looked at me, said the keys are in the truck, the starter sticks at times, 1st gear is super low, back it in here (as he points to a dock at the barn). I got it there, but not without more than a little bucking and jerking, but I got it…
1960-ish Dodge Power Wagon Town Wagon. Flathead six, granny gear tranny, driver’s seat only. It would pull a stump but once out of the ground the stump was probably faster... Bought it cheap in the early ‘70s, drove it through most of my senior year in high school and for a few months after that. I was young and…
My 40-year-old son pulled that can opener out of the drawer in my kitchen at Thanksgiving and had no clue how to begin using it. It was wonderful ... and a teachable moment.
That seller deserves an award for the writing in that ad! P.S. Love the last graph re: millenials and towing...
While waiting on a traffic light in a small (~25,000) city in central Pennsylvania earlier this year, an Aston Martin DB5 motored through the intersection. Only one I’ve seen in the wild, and one of the last cars I’d have expected to see around here.
We (wife and I) traveled by Amtrak once from Philly to Florida in coach and it was a living hell. We traveled the same route a second time and got a sleeper compartment and it was a totally different experience ... except for the woman in the compartment across from us being taken off the train by the police. But,…
He’s road-tripping to Cumming, GA. The Changli is pulling a very short car hauler...
I just had a Cube for a week while my truck was in the shop. I was surprised at the interior space, and especially rear seat legroom. But, it felt like I was driving a skateboard and, to me, seemed to get crummy mileage. My wife’s Focus gets mid-30s while the Cube was just barely creeping into the 20s. My grandsons…
That looks 100% better, Bradley! I used black spray paint for plastic on the propane tank cover on our trailer and it’s still looking good almost 4 years later. Did the same to the black trim on my truck so I wouldn’t have to polish it a few times a year.
When I polished the headlights on my truck I finished off with clear coat. Lasted about 3 years and were then due for another polish. I opted to replace them at that point; they didn’t look like another polish job would really clean ‘em up anymore.
Nice bus build!
Is that a winch cable peeking through the rear bumper? Yes, it looks like it is! Doesn’t look too substantial, though.
I don’t recall when it was mandated but I do remember GM using them in the late ‘60s. Now IH, if not forced by mandated standards, probably used solid columns until forced, kicking and screaming (or at maybe whimpering), to stop.
I was out of school and working as an auto tech when these things were new. I never saw one. I had a couple of friends who drove new (single-decker) Rancheros and were big in the truck scene. I’m sure I’d have heard about it if either of them saw one ... heard about it over and over and over.
I’d vote to keep the goat! “Billy, head-butt that box off the top shelf for me, please.”
...the next day, I got the van up to operating temperature, and let it cool down, noticing that the oil level had risen (and that the oil looked quite dark)...
