Anybody can be a nerd for anything. I see it as having a kind of irrational passion for something that you hold near and dear to your heart. For me, it’s Buffy and Angel, for others, it might be cars or books are writing shitty poetry. All it is is passion.

He doesn’t come right out and use the word “nerd” but Tom Hiddleston is crazy about Shakespeare and Tennis. He knows a *lot* about Shakespeare and anyone who asks him about it will get an impressive answer, probably longer than expected. And as for tennis, he’s just a big old fanboy.

I like John Green’s definition of nerdiness as being unabashedly enthusiastic about something. Ultimately, that’s what it is to be a nerd: to be so excited about something that you express your excitement without regard to how it might make you look to other people.
