The front end of the new Hilux has been derived from or required to mirror to that of the vehicle we know in Australia as the Kluger

Two thoughts:

True. Sort of...if the idea of doing 150 km/h in a glorified shipping container whilst perched on blocks of foam and being enveloped by the sound of a stroked V8 singing through 2.5" Genie headers appeals to you.

That's exactly how it worked. Fairly typical for the period - Land Rover had the same system.

Top review. Pretty much sums up everything I recall about the Niva ownership experience even down here in Australia. I think mine was a 1987 model and it looked much the same (but with a little less Cyrillic).

That's really unprofessional...no selfie stick!

Santana in Spain tried it for a long time but failed. Then Iveco got Santana to have another go (Massif). And that turkeyed too and then took Santana with it.

Any word on the Mad Max: Fury Road movie tie-in version?

But can it say FAUX CAMRY?

Volvo may not go racing but that won't stop anyone from racing Volvo's...

Almost. But not quite. You definitely can get the 4x4 driveline in Australia but it is a $20,000 optional extra. But it'll need work to get it to this rally spec!

You got my vote...

'Strayya...wharsh we alwaysh knowsh how to treats a poofy Volkshwagen....and holdsh a camera...[hic]

Doesn't look like you could do it on a trials bike like the Red Bull lads did...

More truthfully...never there in the first place!!

Quite ridiculous since the Holden manufacturing entity will be dead within a year or so. From then on the Holden badge will simply reflect the 'best' that Opel and Chevrolet (Asia) can manage on behalf of the Great South Land. Would you really want that in the Land of the Free?

Hahahahahahahahahaha....that's about as Australian as you are. That's internationally sourced has very few Oz scenes. LR Oz had almost nothing to do with it...except promote it. We're good at that.

Gawd...it's almost the same unit! Just a more Indian/Toyota face. I hope they've done some work under the skin...

So it's a 2015 Australian spec Space Cab LTZ Pickup with a suspension kit, diff locks, flash wheeles & tyres and some bespoke bodywork. Hmmm....
