This article rings particularly hollow given that AV Club is constantly linking to Kinja Deals which constantly shills for Amazon.

My favourite book about the ‘net culture of old is “My Tiny Life” by Julian Dibbell. It’s a fantastic, intimate look at how the net used to be. It focuses mainly on the small parts of the net that the author inhabited but I’d say it should be required reading for anyone who didn’t themselves live through the changes
