I feel like the Dreamcast is fundamentally different than the other examples here.

The Dreamcast was fucking awesome. Has an amazing library of games and some features that seemed to presage the more online connected era for consoles to come.

A year ago I would have said (and likely did say, if you go through old Kotaku articles) that they just wanted to get all the bugs found and otherwise “done” before going to consoles since that’s fewer platforms to update, but at this point I just don’t see any logic behind it.

Solid list, but I think it’s worth mentioning that Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy V (and FF1-6) actually can’t be played on modern consoles. Mobile and PC, sure, but that’s it. Honestly it’s weird at this point that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters haven’t come to consoles yet, it looks like S-E put a lot of work…

On the one hand, maybe they’ll cut out all the obnoxious legacy design choices which bog down the Monster Hunter games.

The city is very dense and layered, which made it a cool envrionment to traverse. I just hated how next to none of the shops, buildings, and vendors were open or interactable.

I know getting funding for AAA projects is a beast and sometimes you’ve gotta take what you can get, but god almighty I don’t know why any 3rd party developer would work with Take Two or Square Enix at this point. Both of those companies have demonstrated pretty clearly that they only care about their own golden…

They confirmed one was coming and supposed to be available for sale by the holiday sale season.

I guess if presented with such a decision, I would choose the cat myself.
