This is so unfortunate. Jemele Hill’s tweet hit it right on the head;

I love all your words...lol

This is awesome. I hope it’s received well.

This is fucked up. Anxiety, depression, sadness are real. For everyone. I imagine though, that as is with so much else, it’s worse for black people. Especially black youth. How can you feel consistent good when you know society values you less? I’m not trying to exclude other’s that society disregards, but to my mind

Thank you, for this great piece. It’s coverage like this that keeps me tapped into The Root.

Thanks for the link. I’ll be watching it soon.

I just wanted to point out the Consuewella Africa’s name is misspelled in the article.

Indeed. I just finished the article and seriously had to pause midway. It’s a hard read. Especially the end when it’s written about Lionell Dotson hugging the plastic bag containing ashes of his sisters Katricia and Zanetta. I have so many questions that I’m not sure any one can answer. The biggest one is, does the

This is absolutely bananas and bullshit. I remember learning about the MOVE bombing a few years back, and was watching a Frontline documentary that mentioned it last week. The fact that law enforcement saw fit to drop bombs on a block, with total disregard should be no surprise, but still is. Reminds me of WACO.

What you said about your doctor, reminds me of a similar experience I had over the summer. I was being pre-screened for an echocardiogram, and I mentioned that I heard someone in the waiting room tell the front desk they contracted COVID. The doctor seemed surprised, laughed and said “it’s just like the flu”.

Rocking a “Smash White Supremacy” shirt to a police ceremony, honoring him, and making it a reveal. That’s some real superhero shit right there. Good on him for being selfless (in both helping to save the mans life, and doing this).

I would love a theater like that in NYC. We used to have a $3 one in Manhattan, similar to yours but the movies were a little older when they showed them (maybe a month old). They’ve been closed since 2001, and I still miss them.

Totally agree with you. An advantage and possibly a higher level of comfort and confidence. It’s funny, when I started to read your comment, and how the professor required personal car repairs for all of his students, my brain said “because it’s a good way to get used to interconnected systems and diagnose problems”.

Two uplifting stories in a row. “A Great Day in London” and now this. That’s what’s up.

This is awesome. I remember when “A Great Day in Hip-Hop” happened. I was proud to be alive to witness it. I wish I would have been there in person.

I loved all of this. Thanks.

Pepperidge Farm remembers”...lol

True indeed. When I saw the commercial for this the other day, I really thought it was a remake until I saw the “Inspired by a true story”...lol

I thought the same thing when she said this was her “hobby”.

I thought the same thing when I read her words from that TIME 100 talk. Awesome stuff. I wish more parents were like that.
