I could probably get over his age, but in action sequences he doesn’t look so fluid? Admittedly, that’s probably the hardest thing to replicate from animation.

I’ve been saying that a lot. He is way too old to play Spike. No offense intended. I mean, I’m way too old to play Spike, too. But this casting confuses me.
I’ll give it a shot, but am I the only one who thinks John Cho looks a little old to be playing Spike?
...one person in particular took issue with the presentation of the environmentalism theme, texting the filmmaker and pledging they were going consume coal and do as much destruction as possible against the planet to spite him.
I hate movies whose stories exist solely on an allegorical level, which is very true of Mother! but I thought it was still a great movie-going experience. The sound design is amazing and some of the set pieces are just gonzo bravura filmmaking. It’s not something I’m dying to revisit but as an artistic theme park ride…
loved mother!
I liked Mother! It was weird, wild, ambitious, pretentious, and, ultimately, only semi-successful. But that’s art for you. Sometimes you gotta swing for the fences and I wish more filmmakers were willing, or able, to take those kinds of risks. And the fact that people have such passionate responses to it, even years…
That opening shot has stronger Bebop vibes than the actual redone opening they’ve done. That recaptures the actual energy of the opening you want while adapting it to what can work for that in live-action.
Welcome to our post-truth dystopian reality. I was discussing this (not the porn part, but the political ramifications) over dinner with the family last Friday and told them the first time that I saw a deepfake used to affect politics (though I’m sure it wasn’t) was as a plot device in the 1987 film “The Running Man”. …
I’d have it no other way.
I saw people elsewhere utterly trashing on this trailer before I watched it, but now I did and it seems... fine? It definitely looks like Resident Evil. The trailer is pretty whatever but the movie itself looks okay.
I’m looking for long form journalism, not a tweet.
I like some low budget schlock, but it still has to be fun to watch. Willy’s Wonderland isn’t it for me. Everything’s too lazily done, and they pretty clearly threw what money they had into hiring him, hoping they could rest on the “it’s odd and Nic Cage is in it” excuse to eek out a profit.
I mean, there’s always the opportunity to make a movie that isn’t a complete piece of shit.
Congratulations to Cool Helmet, for spawning both a successful show and spin-off series.
Somewhere out there, every actor who had a bit role in any of the movies or cartoons are hoping they too get a series based on their character.
You are correct. Many of Bennett’s characters, and Ferrell’s for that matter, are guys who would consider themselves at least average if not above-average, and prove themselves to be below-average in many ways. (Also, almost everyone considers themselves to be average or better in any number of areas, and of course…
I was hoping that it wasn’t a recreation and more of a side story for others in the world.
Hrrrrrm, I don’t know. It kind of looks like some fan-made adaptation of the original intro or like a hip-hop video from the 90s or something. Based on this alone, watching the live action adaptation may be a bit too cringe for me.
