If you don’t care about being able to plug into the TV, the only real issue is Joy-Con drift where the analog stick moves on its own which still is a fairly probable issue. Bit harder to fix when the Lite has those controllers attached to them. You would have to be sending them to Nintendo to fix in either case but…

I would draw a line at comparing it to Sci-Fi or Fantasy media. Those forms are meant for entertainment and do so from drawing conflict in the subject matter. They rarely end well because the good is often ignored in the presence of a stronger narrative.

Other than event items, there’s no real punishment to the level you’re referring. You get rewards for doing holidays and have daily chores to do but you can easily come back. The villagers will notice and comment on you being gone and there’s negligible weeds scattered about that you’d have to pull, nothing too major.
