Uh does that mean movies based on books, or historical events should be negated too? They are also based on other source material. According to your logic, The Lord of the Rings shouldn’t have won since it was based on someone else’s source material.

Fair point. I think I’m more pissed that Peele wasn’t nominated for Best Screenplay... which let’s face it, he would’ve won.

The Post is only being talked about in regards to Trump and Meryl Streep, and even that wasn’t much. Trump bashing is a regular thing. Any movie that directly goes in that direction is somewhat talked about it. I haven’t heard much about how it’s revolutionary or brilliant in pure terms of being a film. Nobody I know

I think so. Atleast Get Out. That movie was amazing. I loved Dunkirk too. Are you telling me that The Post is better than Get Out? Okay then.

Right because we will be talking more about ‘The Post’ than ‘Get Out’ in the next few years. Considering how all the movie talk is focused on Get Out, Lady Bird, Call me by your name, I Tonya and The Disaster Artist, i can pretty much see the general consensus here.

I think it deserved every award. I loved it. I recently rewatched it and still loved it. Blade Runner was long too, still amazing.

Yup. That’s exactly what this is.

Go to TVLine. The creator of that website and many of its users have a hard on for that show. They basically said that the W&G revival was a success and the Twin Peaks revival was a flop. It’s hilarious to see how ridiculous that is.

She was taking a dig at the HFPA and its hypocrisy. I mean that was very obvious. Pretty sure none of the directors saw it as a hit on them.

Uh the majority believe Lady Bird and Get Out were better than the others. Not just me. I mean Get Out was the most unique movie of the year. Not nominating Jordan Peele is ridiculous on many levels. And they awarded Lady Bird best picture but not even a nom for Greta Gerwig? Okay. Sure. It didn’t even seem like Del

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED the Dark Knight and it was a better movie than Wonder Women but OP’s statement that directing a superhero movie negates you from being nominated is stupid, esp since the director here is a women. Who did a good job with a trainwreck of a franchise.

Two completely separate roles and equally tough. I loved Harbour in that role and would’ve loved to see him win. But Skarsgård winning was worthy. Was rooting for both of them.

Oh it definitely isn’t. Nominating that dreck over ‘The Good Place’ is indication. Also nominating the ‘The Tourist’ back in ‘11.

She wasn’t dropping shade on them, she was shading the HFPA for their ignorance. And if they got offended, well that’s their problem. Their numerous trophies will comfort them. I’m not saying that they aren’t talented but let’s face it, Lady Bird and Get Out were infinitely better movies.

I mean even the Oscars suck at nominating real talent. They’re better than the Globes, because they do *occasionally* take a break from all the starfuckery and nominate some relatively talented unknowns and award them too. But yeah all voting bodies suck.

Please, Barney Stinson already had a large TV way back in ‘06! Real world, you’re too late.

It’s fucking ridiculous that Lady Bird wins best picture but Greta Gerwig wasn’t even nominated. So yeah, Kudos to Natalie Portman for calling this shit out.

Haha was Homeland really that bad? I never ended up watching the show.

The women were obviously great. But that doesn’t negate the fact that he was also fantastic in the role. Sometimes people with talent win. Even if they are white males (and no I’m not a white male if that and going to be one of your reasons for rebuttal to this statement).

It is and you should watch it. It’s really good.
