So did I. I did a lot of screaming at my brother like that (and, yes, my mother sparked the flame for amusement sometimes).

I've spent too much time on this thread laughing at the hilarious comments about that image and the sandwich in it. I love you all for creating audible laughter in my quiet office.

I don't really consider this acknowledgement of queerness at all. It's always about "What is this girl willing to do from the get-go and what can I get her to do?"

Tragedies and sadness are just that and I think it's kind of rude to quanitfy them when there's any loss of life. Oslo is an absolute tragedy and disaster for a giant list of reasons - Amy Winehouse's death is also a tragedy for a completely different set of reasons, but neither one is NOT a tragedy because one

Yeah, I get that - and the only thing one can do is chalk it up to ignorance. Like people who don't see depression as a disease (just something you need to "pull yourself out of" - how many times I have I heard that one?). You may choose to take that first hit of whatever, but I don't think anybody actively chooses to

Thank you for that level-headed response. You may not have been a beloved fan (I, honestly, wasn't either. I knew a good handful of her songs but didn't truly follow her work) but you can recognize that criticizing an artist's works and seeing them as a human who is struggling with very human things should be separate

Has anybody been watching The Real L Word on Showtime? I hate most reality TV but I can't help but watch this.

It's in my current roommate's lease (I rent the 2nd bedroom of my condo to her) that she needs to keep the place clean. On a scale of 1-10, my cleaning is an 8 and hers is about a 5 at best.

It may not be exactly sentimental but it's still yours - and if you don't want holes and sinks in it, then you have that right.

I know that, but I was 8 or 9 years old in 1992 and was in 8th grade (with plaid button-downs and Eastlands) in 1997, sooo...yeah. 1992 was Cross Colors, Starter jackets, and Jodeci boots.

No, I'm not surprised, but the people saying that she was this-that-or-the-other, a junkie, a one-hit-wonder, why are you surprised, etc. ...

Oh, shit - everybody break out your plaid button-downs and Eastlands! I'm ready to go back to 1997!

Oh, no you didn't!!

Now playing

Not nearly as intense as the men's Haka but lots of thighs to see here too - Here's the Black Ferns (NZ Women's National Team) in the Women's World Cup final vs. England from 2010. Look at Maggie "The Machine" Alphonsi's face!! (black girl, flanker, scrum cap) It. WAS. ON, y'all.

YES. CAN.NOT. WAIT! I've already requested hours off during the NZ matches. I cannot be distracted by work.

Jez - I absolutely adore when you feature rugby, especially the amaze-balls All Blacks! Richie McCaw (far left, brown hair, jumper's tape on) rocks my socks. Flanker extraoidinaire.

Tight head here!

Was it necessary for her to mention that he was a male Republican speaker? I don't think that line was necessary at all - or that anybody gave it enough thought to raise hell about it in the first place to try and make it happen.

I really hope that some person with a Wi-Fi enabled iPad didn't go: "Oh my gawd! Amy Winehouse died!" although I suspect that that may have been the case on a trans-Atlantic flight.
