Wow, this feels like something I could have written. I can’t remember the last time I felt so strongly in tune with a writer on this site, so congrats for really striking a nerve!

I both agree and disagree. Part of what I love about my favorite games is the sense of mystery and wonder that comes from peeling off the game’s layers. A second play-through will sometimes reveal new stuff that makes the game even better, but it also comes without quite the same sense of wonder.

A downgrade isn’t necesarily a bad thing. Early trailers are often impossibly good bullshit. The fact that they downgraded it means this is likely what we’ll actually see, and it still looks good.

I prefer the newer one’s skintone. It’s a lot less ‘lively’ but with all the stress Luna’s been though based on what we’ve been shows in Kingsglaive, It makes more sense to me.

I really don’t buy that excuse. Most people knew how to play Super Mario Bros and even Zelda without the manual, because they were designed in a way that most of the mechanics were self-explanatory with a bit of trial-and-error.
