Just looking at this comment section and the more general online reaction, it’s weird (by which I mean, extremely predictable) how quickly and with such tenacity certain supposedly “I don’t have anything against” types are to chastise entire identities as being at fault for some people’s bad behavior.

Having gone through the comment section, its quite disheartening to see how many people seem to for some reason equate the actions of however many assholes with LITERALLY ALL TRANS PEOPLE and allies or even the movement (which last time i checked was the trans rights movement not the lets harass streamers movement).

I also would have accepted “Yes, I consider myself an ally of Trans people and their plight, but I draw the line at slightly inconveniencing my personal entertainment choices by not playing a video game"

What are you talking about? Attacking trans people IN GENERAL because some assholes did a bad thing (amid a climate of valid criticism no less) is just straight up transphobic

What does separating the art from the artist have to do with what’s happening here

I have made the decision to separate art from the artist.

Damn, that’s pretty good.  Are you a professional at making bad faith arguments?

Now playing

On the an official VOMS stream in Japanese the company announced that the graduation plans were made ages ago. The merchandise they’re releasing in March also included graduation specific imagery which means they must have gone into production before the wizard game incident.

Reminder: telling someone you’re disappointed in them for playing Hogwarts Legacy is not bullying. Telling someone you’re going to unsub/unfollow them for playing it is not bullying. Asking someone not to play a game because the franchise’s creator is loudly, proudly transphobic is not bullying.

So if a marginalized group of people are mean to you, does that mean you won't support them? Weird.

Not playing a video game is *literally* the least you can do. As someone else here put it, playing the wizard game doesn’t make you a transphobe, but you sure as hell can’t call yourself an ally.

I can’t stand that the narrative behind her graduation has become a sea of rabid transphobia and the typical lack of critical thinking skills common among the vtuber fan community. Pikamee is graduating at an event at the end of this month, an event that was announced at the beginning of February, and was for all

It’s a single player game, so whoever was going to play it has done so and moved on. Pretty easy to understand.

Your entire reply is mealy mouthed and suspect. It is literally the lowest effort to not play a thing. There are plenty of other things to play. And your complaint about not being able call out marginalized groups, oof. you are just aching to use some slurs aren’t you? You are giving big “if you aren’t nice to me I won

This VTuber retiring didn’t make any of these people this violently transphobic. They just wanted an excuse to let that demon out. The demon was there already.

Yah honestly I don't get the hand-wringing from ppl who really want to think of themselves as supportive allies but apparently the thought of not playing the mediocre wizard game and giving JK rowling more attention and money is just too much to bear for them. Play the game if you want but ppl have a right to be

>The official announcement made no mention of whether or not the vtuber had planned to retire before her streaming plans blew up

All the reports I’m seeing from actual trans people is those harassers were, as one person put it, “internet shit stirrers who want to paint the trans communities outrage over JK Rowling as some kind of crusade against everyone”. Most of the trans people I’ve seen comment on others playing/streaming has been along

Her graduation was planned well before the Hogwarts playthrough was announced. It’s just ill-timing and a contributor to, like you said, the lack of streaming in February. It’s not a direct cause of her graduation, but don’t worry people will lash out with that as a primary reason anyway.
