“You’re not allowed to have opinions about video games if they’re Japanese” is one hell of a take.

So youre saying its ok to have “different ideas about diversity and inclusion” that are no diversity or inclusion?

This is a game whose script was written in English first and is specifically targeting the global market. Not some niche Japanese game that was lucky to get translated to English. Beyond that, YoshiP in his statements talked about being accurate to medieval Europe as a reason for the lack of diversity, except medieval

I mean if you create a fantasy world devoid of black people that says a lot about you and your world view.

The attitude that japan is made of child-like naive fools who know nothing about the rest of the world and don’t understand diversity is an incredible work of racism here from the racist west.

Japan didn’t join the Nazis because they didn’t “get” racial genocide. What Japan is is a country where the CIA worked really

I mean its fine if you want to have all white people in your story, it’s just disingenuous to be like “yeah they’re all white because something about regional isolation” instead of “they’re all white because I don’t think black people should be in it.”

It’s not a “flip side” depending on the medium there are perfectly simple and straightforward answers.

I already know whose side I’m on in this (Luiga, Kurvitz, Rostov, and Hindpere), and I don’t expect that to change. A person who has committed business fraud (Haavel) is liable to do it again, even after being caught.

Oh, this is going to get so many weirdos going off on one about how because Japan does something distasteful in something they are selling to a global audience we can’t criticise it (even though they will criticise the “forced diversity” of titles developed across the world).

Well isnt that a coincidence. The day after a damning report SUDDENLY theyre deciding to say the person they fired sexually assaulted someone.

And I know what you’re saying, but what I’m saying is that’s meaningless to claim as responsibility.

I’m no fan of Zuck or Meta, but let’s not be alarmist here. They are in no way “fucked.”

Lower his salary to not fire 11,000 people?

That’s a lot of words to say, “Not facing any real consequences.”

The issue is how many of those people are going to find work in their chosen field when the market is suddenly flooded with not just Meta workers but Twitter too.

Agreed, taking responsibility as a multibillionaire does not look like this... He should be ashamed of himself because this does more than just hurt the 11,000 people he basically fucked over.

Not when most other tech companies are also laying people off and putting hiring freezes in place, including all the big dogs. Even if we aren’t technically in recession, tech companies are acting like we are. These people are fucked because Zuck is a selfish moron.

Was coming here to say this. Him admitting fault while 11,000 others suffer and he will take no hit to his life at all losing that much money is honestly tactless. When one makes 20 million in other endeavors but 11,000 people lose, what keeps that one from swallowing a shotgun. (Thanks NoFX)

“I got this wrong, and I take responsibility for that.””

No, Mark, you are making 11,000 other people take responsibility for that. You are taking no responsibility.
