The US and much of the Western world outsourced all the dirty manufacturing industries to China decades ago. Blaming China entirely for emissions due to producing the products the west consumes is absolute silliness.

The problem is that nobody wants to make a video game about drawing and quartering oil executives in the streets, which is what it will actually take to save the world from a group of people with billions of dollars invested in a political apparatus that guarantees we’re all going to go extinct for the sake of

“The USSR and current Communist China all have far, far worse records on the environment than the liberal democracies around the world.”

How DID Capitalism handle climate change though?

Amusingly enough, there are plenty of people on the Right that seem to think ‘Everything I don’t like is communism’, and on the list of frequently recurring items is ‘environmentalism/environmental regulation.’ Black Lives Matter? Communism. Gay people? Also communism.

To be fair, Barret in the modern 7 remake is properly radical, basically giving a speech in the elevator near the end saying “all Shinra is complict” which...yes! Though it does suck they also retconned his first reactor bombing to only busting up a few pipes, and making Shinra blow up their own reactor instead.

Doesn’t Vampire Survivors chug modern PCs and turn their fans into jet engines?”

Not according to either my modern PC or my much-less-modern laptop.

“And it’s a story that’s specifically aimed at adults who want their childhood nostalgia validated”

The Hunger Games movies? He certainly portrayed the character EXACTLY as he is in the books.

MUST one be a “Fan” of the original work in order to adapt it?”

“as it’s considered a step down to go from Geralt to Clark...”

And witcher is a bigger name than superman

lol, no the witcher is not a bigger name than freakin’ SUPERMAN, even with how bad DC movies are. And I say this as the biggest Witcher fan I know

House of the Dragons and the Rings of Power had the same criticism leveled at them by fans opposed to the casting, but both those shows have a much more positive reception from purists and average viewers by hewing close to the spirit of the world they adapted.

I think the main criticism isn’t regarding how “faithful” the adaptation is, but concerns around the rumors that several writers actively disliked the source material (both the books and the games). We all, understandably (I think), want people working on stories we care about to love (or at least respect) the source

I’m not all-in on this explanation, but it could certainly be part of the issue combined with Cavill getting more popular (and therefore probably harder to pay for and schedule around for an intensive series like this). Plus I can imagine even if he deeply loves the material and the character, being locked down to a

“But then DC backed up two van loads of money and asked for all my time....”

There are far more bad adaptations than good ones, so fans do have justification to be wary.

I’m not sure you can tell from up there on your soap box, but a lot of people are certainly able to fully grasp that any adaptation that drives off the central star that made fans enjoy the show is certainly not a good adaptation, and doesn’t “slap”.

Faithful or otherwise, if you lose Cavill, you’re not going to make

Liam Hemsworth? Liam? More expensive than Cavill? That’s unlikely.

In terms of Hemsworth salaries, he’s probably 4th.

1. Chris
2. Chris’ daughter
3. Chris’ wife
4. Liam, the “other” Hemsworth
5. The other, other Hemsworth
