It may increase sales a bit before the price increase. It will either maintain current sales patterns or decrease them after the change. Whereas, if they decreased the price, there would be a very noticeable increase in sales. They may be very bad at basic sales math.

With the size of the massive DLCs they do nowadays, I don’t think is actually an accurate impression at all. The DLCs for the RPG games are comparable in size to some of the earlier games in the series...
This is not a good understanding of Far Cry at all. Starting from 2, open world was very much its identity. The team behind the first game left to go make Crysis. So it would be more accurate to say Far Cry => Crysis is one series of spiritual successors and Far Cry 2 on is a completely different series.
Instead of playing devil’s advocate, go read the investigative reporting on the game’s development, and understand why everyone is EXTREMELY skeptical it will be anything but an immediate flop.
