I come from a rural farming community. People used to can all kinds of stuff and tried to be pretty self sufficient. Granma pry had 6 months to a year’s worth of food in the cellar/pantry/on the hoof. That’s kind of faded in my generation. We still put stuff up. But nowhere near that.
