I don’t mean to offend anyone, although I probably will - but doesn’t Lexus fill this niche already with the ES and LS? I’ve ridden in both and they reminded me of the used 70s American cars my grad school friends and I drove in the early 80s. Quiet, smooth power, very little sense of the hurly burly going on outside.

Fair enough, if you put it like that, I may not agree but I won’t disagree either. I can at least see your point. This is not the same as talking about 1,000 year old cultures not changing, as if all Germans are somehow responsible, or that cultures and societies cannot change.

So, if you’re American as I am, can I refer to slavery, civil rights, and anti-semitism in reference to GM ignition recalls or Ford/Firestone? If you’re British, can I refer to the Amritsar Massacre? How is any of that relevant to the issue at hand?

I personally think the Nazi references are unnecessary and unhelpful. Germany is not the same country today as it was then. I have visited and I have some in laws there. What was done then was beyond description, but I fail to see a connection to illegal actions by a corporation and then lies to cover up those actions.

That was the magazine, though, wasn’t it? Not the TV show? Or am I thinking of the Mazda?

No, there’s a Jay Leno’s Garage where he jokingly shows a Jaguar engine from which all the oil was drained - it still had a leak under it.

I agree. The “technical” thing is simply that he thinks “technical” means “having to do with technology” whereas in English, it can mean “technicality”.

Isn’t there a recipe book for cooking stuff on your exhaust manifold? I’m certain I read about this. You wrap it in foil and tuck it in the manifold, then drive for various lengths of time as suggested by the recipe.

A Mercedes driving anarchist?

I believe he misspelled it and left out the word “them”. They can communicate with them thar cars, is what he meant, dadgummit. It's speak like a prospector day.

This thing sounds like the Microsoft Clippy of MINI cars. Stomp hard on it.

I thought it was a poster’s aunt? Is there more than one such poster?

Porsche. I was responding to Plantonation.

They give fantastic lease terms to employees.

Must...reach...stool...before...stool...erupts...

I’ll go beyond being That Guy and be That Asshole: as the link to Gizmodo that you gave shows, it’s spelled skeuOmorphism. (Yes, with a capital O...no, not really, but with an o.)

Estevez...oh yeah, Werewolf was another great classic. Wasn't it Joe Estevez though?

The only pang of guilt I feel laughing at this movie is that I learned the actor who played Torgo committed suicide. I hope it wasn't because of the universal ridicule the movie and his part earned.

She could be channeling a stutter though.

Truly a terrible, terrible, terrible classic of all time.
