Certainly. Stalin and the Commies killed a ton of them too. But why does that mean they can’t celebrate their victory? The planes, tanks, and ICBMs are all propaganda, but the people of Russia deserve to feel proud of the country’s role in that war.

Well, that’s certainly true. But you could also say Stalin was concerned that the European powers were capitulating too easily to the Nazis and didn't think Russia could count on the west.
