My response appears not to have posted, so please excuse a duplication. I wanted to thank you for contributing to this site. You're one of the writers I always read.

Really, Steve? Wastes the bulk of our taxes? I understand the need for some hyperbole, but isn’t that a bit much?

Not a Porsche fan either? For years I wasn't one, preferring BMW. But I recently bought a Cayman GTS and have become a Porsche fan, although not giving up on BMW fanboyism either.

OK, I didn’t know that - is that counting the Ukrainian famine (“Holodomor”) also? Or just starting in June 1941?

20M is the number I’ve heard from several sources, but it probably depends on whether you count the victims of Stalin’s own ethnic cleansing and criminal activity: the Ukrainian famine, the forced relocation of Central Asians such as Chechens, the impact of the purges... The Soviet Union definitely brought a lot of

Certainly. Stalin and the Commies killed a ton of them too. But why does that mean they can’t celebrate their victory? The planes, tanks, and ICBMs are all propaganda, but the people of Russia deserve to feel proud of the country’s role in that war.

Well, that’s certainly true. But you could also say Stalin was concerned that the European powers were capitulating too easily to the Nazis and didn't think Russia could count on the west.

Not a big fan of Putin’s Russia, but I don't begrudge them the celebration. They lost 20,000,000 people in that war, and if it hadn't been for them, the western Allies would have had their ass handed to them.

Exactly. I decided against it when I downsized to a 3-series.

I don’t agree with a lot of what you said (I like the 991) but your first sentence is genius.

I didn't care for the BMW implementation on my 5-series. It couldn't handle people cutting in front as is so prevalent in US driving.

Do I get a prorated refund?

Ok, understood. Thanks for the explanation.

Also, not sure why “are you new here” is supposed to be some sort of snarky put down. If I had started reading yesterday, would that somehow place me on a lower social level among you venerated members?

I'm newer than that, thanks for asking. But is everything an answer of the day now?

Has Jalopnik become like those Korean restaurants where you have to cook your own food? Do you guys write articles anymore or do you just ask us to put together your listicles for you?

Craigslist doesn't kill people, Craig does.

With some fava beans and a nice bottle of chianti, slurpurpurpurpurp....

Although that entire metaphor is a bit dated. When was the last time you saw a black pot or kettle? We all cook on clean gas flame or electric burners, and most kitchen utensils are stainless steel.

The other day, as I hooked up my Ctek, I remembered your Jalopnik name and wondered why I hadn’t seen a comment from you in a long while.
