Well relative to today. The 944 was no slouch back in the day. It was a strong SCCA competitor ( ran with the hot stuff from GM - vette of course and the 3rd gen 1LE cars ) maybe not as quick as 'murican performance cars but people didn't buy them for drag racing. 

It was trauma in every sense of the word.

The AMC Hornet was a great car.

I’ve never been able to wrap my head around paying more than $25,000 for a vehicle. In fact our cars have been getting cheaper - our last car purchase was a CPO 2014 Jetta Sportwagen TDI that had 33K miles on the clock for $14K.

And that’s different from every S-class in the last twenty years?

I love this thing and as non-truck buyer would seriously consider this. I hope it jump starts a trend for smaller, less expensive truly useful trucklets like the Fiat Toro / RAM 700.

My quick look online say 48" usable with tonneau in place 52" removed, vs 54.4" bed length on a Maverick.  Personally I want more bed and less cab so a Ranger Super Cab more my speed since it does most of what my old F150 can do at twice the gas mileage 

I still remember when this car first came out in ‘82. It was a stunning looking car.

Couldn’t not reply to this. Yes! The rental agent at Budget (yesterday!) asked if I could drive a manual. Of course I said, Sure! She gave me the key to a brand new Challenger with a Hemi and 6 speed. I got a solid dose of tire smoke, all for the same price as a compact rental. Absolute helluva rental.

In order for it to be Murica, it would have to be an F-150, a fat white dude with oakleys+hat+tanktop+farmer tan combo, and the donuts would be in a Dollar General strip mall hellscape parking lot.

It could also be an airsoft gun with the safety markings removed.  

SoCal resident here. They are fucked. Completely FUCKED. LAPD takes street racing very seriously and they’ll probably end up with 20+ years behind bars.
