I don’t know how they do it, but the Japanese can make cars that can take a lot of neglect and abuse and still start every time and run perfectly, their plastics don’t crack and they only start burning oil after 250k miles.

All German / Euro cars can be pretty dependable if you maintain them properly and stay on top of little things, but in my experience Audi is the worst.

HAHAHAHAHA! OK, CR! This is why I don’t pay pay attention to what they publish. They’re great until about 90k. Then all the cheap plastic for small but vital bits starts to deteriorate, several of millions of sensors go bad, and electronics fail.

What BMW dos really well is customer service, and that’s what in reality

Of course, but a minivan makes more sense than a Tahoe. I grew up in a family of decent sized hatchbacks, sedans and wagons, and at one point a Beetle.

Alfa: Always Looking For Another!

Some dumb myths:

• Small cars are death traps

Dunno about safer, but more useful. You can bump start a manual, and in the US it’s a strong theft deterrent.

You’re basically admitting your ignorance and bias. Fiat has sold millions of 500s over the years globally, not just in Italy, and they continue to be a best seller and inspiration for many other car makers. It’s a modern design icon with a cult following and many fan clubs. That wouldn’t happen if they were even half

Pandas are amazingly capable and adorable.

More disappointingly lazy journalism, slipping in some hackneyed reliability joke anytime Alfa Romeo is mentioned. Move on...

Not less of a nightmare, just not a nightmare at all.

I love this car, but this examples displays the most old-person color combo possible, which is at odds withe its concept car design.

I agree 100%.

‘94-’04 Alfa-Romeo GTV (Not sold in the US), especially with the 24V 3.2L Busso V6 and a 6 speed. Even though it was hampered with a FWD platform Fiat corporate forced Alfa to use, it had Alfa’s excellent multi-link rear suspension. It looked like nothing else on the road, and even though the FWD made it less capable

It’s super floppy, so I doubt it will decapitate anyone, more like give them a hard core bitch slap.

With almost any other car, I’d be prone to agreeing, but the 911 changed so little until the 996 that this rant barely registers. If you were talking about say a Miura or E-type, I’d be onboard.

I’m sick and tired of 911s, the most over-exposed sports car in history, and so often the default choice for douchy people

Musk hats then?

...designed by a 4 year old , in the dark, in the 70's.

Unless you’re taking about an exotic or a really old car with very low market value, good used engines can be found and installed for $4k. A co worker had the V6 on his old 4Runner rebuilt for $5k

They were all Imperial Stormtroopers at one point it seems.
