Periods, man. Don’t be afraid to use them.

Right after the truck driver farted his chipolte in your fresh off the trailer car.

remove the spare tire

Christ, you’re like the guy last week telling me it’s ok to drive your WRX like a rally car because “pedigree” but then bitching about blowing up transmissions when driven as such.

It’s a sporty commuter car that has almost nothing in common with a rally spec car other than drivetrain layout and branding.

Commercial airliners have had a form of an autopilot and other pilot assist technologies for decades and until recently suffered crashes fairly routinely. Now that technology has made airline disasters almost unheard of. Good thing the aviation industry didn’t take your advice.

Here’s the funny thing. It’s a requirment to pay attention with EVERY highly automated vehicle. I’ve worked onboard ships for more than a few years and at NO point underway is someone not on the bridge on lookout even when the ship is sailing on autopilot. It’s the same with us in engineering; monitoring the engine

Alright, stop driving distracted using the fancy cruise control.

“Co-pilot” is actually a much worse name. A co-pilot is just as capable as the pilot, just usually slightly less experienced. An autopilot requires constant monitoring. A co-pilot does not.

Well the the rest figured that out and that’s why this rare event is newsworthy.

I mean, a plane’s auto-pilot still requires the pilot to pay attention. The name checks out fine, in my opinion.

Or hire them.

Auto braking is independent of Autopilot and can be turned off also, but auto braking is not 100% accurate and is tuned to avoid false positives. There will be no automaker out there who would claim they can avoid all accidents with auto braking and all of their manuals are filled full of disclaimers about limitations

Well then why would he be so chill at that very spot?

Then don’t use it?

If this is true I’m trying to imagine of why anyone would entrust the vehicle in that spot if there was multiple encounters with issues.

Officer: “Do you know why I pulled you over?”

Jesus took the wheel, and apparently didn’t do that great a job of it.

You get ALL the credit for practicing incredible restraint in your reply to eolith. Mad respect.

Show me one of these pictures, please? And keep in mind, we’re not talking about the location of reverse here. You may want to look at that picture again.

Every single time someone comes up with a new, unsafe and stupid mod defenders are quick to point out its legality. Just because laws haven’t caught up doesn’t make them legal. Typically regulations involve a set of conditions. The main reason certain things get specifically called out is because of those
