Another nail hit directly on the head.
Another nail hit directly on the head.
I think a lot of it comes from the fact that with higher pay and pensions police officers started moving to parts of towns or suburbs that are often far from where they patrol. Its easy to think of those they’re supposed to protect and, yes, occasionally arrest, as scum when they don’t know them, don’t worship in the…
So they basically put the life of this very decent religious leader in jeopardy for yuks. Did they not realize that dudes who assaulted a Washington pizza place, with guns drawn, because they fell for a “Hillary child prostitution ring” story are NOT going to spray bullets at every mosque in Texas at this point?
Houston area Mosque opens door to fleeing Joel O’Steen.
I’m sure a lot of police departments don’t hire criminals under any circumstances... but others are more flexible. There was a minor scandal in Colorado while I was living there, where officers with domestic violence and drug convictions would bounce from department to department with no real repercussions.
perhaps helping the prosecutor when the erratic driver was taken to trial.
No and no. Many ex-military members are rejected from serving as officers because they’re ex-military. There are of course exceptions but those usually are due to nepotism.
“he wanted a blood sample from the reserve officer to establish that he wasn’t in any way inebriated while driving that big truck. He was looking out for a fellow policeman”
Just my opinion but the police in the US are very militarized, in fact a lot of them have background from the military so I feel that makes an impact. Also it turns into a very much us vs. them mentality...America is a violent country and we see it through cops. I will admit there are parts of this country where I…
Everyone who didn’t try to intervene should be fired too. Why did they let this happen? Like that security guy talking on his phone - what about doing your job? You’re witnessing a nurse on the hospital you work for getting assaulted!
Because cops here believe they exist to protect each other instead of serving the public. It’s them against us so regardless of our innocence, we’re all suspects until we prove otherwise.
To cover their asses over a potential unwarranted high speed chase; blame the victim, not themselves.
Why are US police so violent towards everybody? Are they afraid? Insecure? Misogynists? Wannabe-army? What’s wrong with them? The police in the UK would never handle a sober, non-aggressive, non-violent suspect in this manner, let alone another member of an emergency service. In the UK this would be big news, and…
That’s nothing. Lots of news organizations have been repeatedly making up stories over the past 8 months about Trump becoming “Presidential”, and millions of people fall for it every time.
No, this article is better suited now. The Northeast is the exception, since everywhere else, we are hot as fuck. California is right now in the middle of a heat wave of epic proportions.
Nothing says “I’m not smug” like calling somebody smug for shopping at a grocery store.
Ted Cruz is a Senator thus a rep of Houston. Did you call your rep and complain? Did the powerful energy industry in Houston take him to task? Did good, decent Christians in TX regardless of their political affiliations?
I won’t mince words either: you are incredibly ignorant and you lack any worthwhile insight.
Tell me what were the repercussions those TX reps who voted no for aid to Sandy victims faced from TX voters? Then we’ll talk about showing one’s true colors and what’s embarrassing and depressing.
No, I’m under the impression that the Texas GOP are pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps type and they would want their fellow Texans, who voted them in, to die on that hill with them.
