Thank you!
Thank you!
“What I read last night was that he also signed something to the effect that he would never try to contact his victim or the child”
I bet when he says she “consented” he means that she signed the child support enforcement form that gives the state her consent to go after the bio dad for child support.
That’s what we have but most states that elect judges didn’t have anywhere near enough money for such a system when the election laws were enacted.
From what I read it was the prosecutor who asked for these conditions. Apparently there it’s the prosecutors office that initiates actions for support if a parent seeks public assistance. And the prosecutor claimed the victim consented (which she adamantly denies and I believe her.)
I read the linked article. Apparently the logic was that the judge didn’t want to send him to prison (as opposed to the county jail) because it hardens people and makes them worse. That was the actual logic.
Of course, that doesn’t explain why he only got 4 years for his second offense with a previous conviction on…
This is a huge WTF
We don’t have elected judges in my state (Massachusetts) and I agree it’s a terrible system. But the reason for it was to cut out political patronage. Politicians would just give up judgeships to their buddies. (My state does have anti-corruption and patronage laws to prevent that but they aren’t 100% effective.)
Yeah, that’s what I noticed, too. So much for all the MRA claims that society treats rape as the worst crime ever and a rape conviction completely destroys men’s lives. This was an open and shut case with a minor, witnesses, and clear violent coercion. But still... 1 freaking year.
How is it that you get more time in prison for watching videos of 12 year olds than actually kidnapping and raping a 12 year old?
1. His signature on a piece of paper is about as effective as a piece of paper known as a protection order. Which is to say, not at all.
Does it honestly surprise you that girls are of less consequence than the “war on drugs?”
It was a different time. You may not know this, but in 2008, we didn’t really know it was wrong to kidnap and rape children. Just like we didn’t know it was wrong to beat women until 2014. It’s been a very busy decade for us becoming “woken” and stuff.
and then went out and fucking did it again!!!
There is so much WTF with this story but...
You think standing with victims is patriarchal?
Really, stop it. Every time some asshole gets called out in public for his or her behavior or failure to speak up about someone else’s behavior, some “Eastern European” comes crawling out of the woodwork to protest that it “smacks of what we used to live under.”
Enough. It’s total BS. Either people like you are…
The issue is that people aren’t even speaking up now, when these allegations are out in the open.
I think it’s pretty shitty that Meryl got dragged for “not hearing the rumors during her long career” but 26 (!!!) of these Boys Club™ mofos choose not to speak out and nobody has anything negative to say.
Because as a man we are meant to use our voices to help women, who constantly get the shit end of the stick by creepy motherfuckers. Being an ally isn’t a name tag. It requires action.
