Uhm .... actually i was on the Nordschleife last year and set a world record for an American import car of a Japanese manufacturer while making my co driver puke in the first 2 miles of track length :D

Retail for M3 SR+ is about 44k Euros in Europe - that would be about 48k Freedom bucks. You can’t compare a european retail price converted to $ to a US retail price.
one word - insurance.
A few years ago, I replaced my S2k AP1 (“summer car”) and 9-3 Turbo-X (“winter car”) with a 2007 Cayman S (because one car does it all) ... and the Cayman was in every aspect better than each one of them. Yes the S2k felt a little more snippy but that was purely subjective. I can understand however that a base Boxster…
I do not know, why you list the Cadillac Omg... Catera. In these times, adopting a European car wasn’t the worst decision for an american “quality” badge.
The 80cm(E)s were no wonder weapons and neither cost effective, but they did their job. Originally designed to counter the Maginot Line, but not ready in time, Gustav and Dora laid waste to the Sevastopol defenses and contributed to a convincing victory for the Germans.
“For people saying Tesla should hand this over to “real car companies”, please show me one manufacturer that has accomplished even 10% of what Tesla has in the last 10 years.”
I tell about the cost per-miles but i can tell you, the revenue for truck toll last year was roughly 6 Billion $$. 11 % would be around 650 million $$. And thats complete bs.
I had one for a year in 2017 and it was just a half step (in everything) below the Cayman S i drove before. It needed an exhaust swap and had no bluetooth but otherwise there wasn’t anything to complain about. If Nissan would swap in the Q50s 3liter or hybrid and update the infotainment, the 370z could literally run…
“Are people really cross-shopping the 370Z and the Mustang?”
Remembering the Z3 Story and seeing what you’ve done in this picture: Is there any sports car from the late 90s which looks good from the front?
You basically get a 370Z with less power and maybe 100 lbs. lighter.
The S2k drove like a normal hot 2.0 Liter below vtech....nothing anemic for the late 90s/early 00s...
//The EV1 had no sticker price because it wasn’t for sale. It had a lease rate that in no way reflected the actual cost of production (around $100K each), nor a residual value since they weren’t ever going to be sold.//
100k-miles is not “low mileage”. Low mileage describes a car which hasn’t been used much. Using the term for a car which hasn’t the typical usage for its age is not the same.
This is a nonargument. If it would really blow up to a state of no repair possible / feasible (not too likely), he could bought another beater. For 2-3k debt, he would likely have put on the side by then rather than paying it for a loan.
...
CP - Question is - at which price would it be feasible to just rebuild this thing? I don’t think it will be too much hassle...
Biggest problem with the B284 is the exploding timing chain. It will fail somewhere between 10 and 150k miles and kills the engine - and it usually does without previous warning lights. M96 IMS serious.
