If it’s correct that Gravitational waves have infact been discovered then it will absolutely greatly expand our knowledge of the what, why and how of Gravity and will certainly lead to technological areas exploiting our knowledge of said Gravitational waves.

That we can now define gravity in terms of it’s properties more clearly, where previously we could not, would seem to get us closer to actually being able to control gravity.
